Sevillano is a picturesque evergreen tree with small dark green leaves that give a willow-like, airy effect. It develops an open canopy and a graceful, gnarled trunk with age.
This cultivar produces large black olives with low to moderate oil content, well-suited for canning. It may be used as a pollinizer for Manzanillo and thrives in hot dry locations.

Once established, water occasionally.
Water more frequently in extreme heat or containers. Newly planted olive trees will require more water to establish.
Soil
Well-drained, nutrient poor soil
Light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils all acceptable. Olive trees prefer well-drained soil and even grow well in nutritionally poor soil. Hot, rocky locations. Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils.
Care
Thrives in most average, slightly alkaline, well-drained soils, but it is highly adaptable. More productive when planted near another olive variety. Arbequina's do best planted near other olive trees. Water deeply, regularly during first few growing seasons to establish an extensive root system. Once established, reduce frequency; tolerates drought. Shelter young plants from winter extremes.
Due to its low oil content, it is only useful in pickling. Sevillano is used for making Sicilian style salt brine cured olives.
